Saudi Accreditation Center and Saudi Electricity Company Sign MoU to Enhance Technical Cooperation and Quality Ecosystem
The Saudi Accreditation Center has concluded a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Electricity Company at the Saudi Electricity Company's headquarters in Riyadh. The agreement establishes a framework to strengthen collaboration in accreditation fields and elevate the reliability of technical services, driving up operational quality and efficiency across the sector.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Hassan Al-Wohaibi, Deputy CEO for Operations at the Saudi Accreditation Center, and Eng. Nasser Al-Sulami, Vice President of Technical Services at the Saudi Electricity Company.
Under the partnership, the Saudi Accreditation Center will extend its accreditation services to cover the Saudi Electricity Company’s diverse operational activities. This framework enables the company to utilize laboratories, inspection bodies, and certification entities accredited by the Saudi Accreditation Center, ensuring highly reliable technical results and aligning utility operations with top-tier national and international benchmarks.
The strategic cooperation also places a strong emphasis on mutual knowledge transfer and institutional capacity building. Both sides will share expertise, run specialized technical training programs, and step up joint administrative, scientific, and research initiatives aimed at developing national talent within the quality control and accreditation spheres.
This initiative falls within the Saudi Accreditation Center's broader strategy to expand its network of public and private sector partnerships, ultimately supporting the development of the Kingdom's quality infrastructure and directly contributing to the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Saudi Accreditation Center Delivers Accreditation Certificate to Air Defense Forces Supply and Logistics Authority
His Excellency Dr. Adel Alkeaid, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Accreditation Center, presented the accreditation certificate for the laboratories of the Quality Control Department at the Air Defense Forces Supply and Logistics Authority, represented by its President, His Excellency Major General Ali bin Manea Alomari, in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
SAAC Organizes World Accreditation Day Forum 2026
The Saudi Accreditation Center organized the World Accreditation Day Forum 2026, which is celebrated annually on 9 June. This year’s forum was held under the theme: “Accreditation: Empowering Innovation, Trust, and Sustainability”, at the SAAC’s headquarters in Riyadh, with the participation of a number of government and private entities, as well as specialists and stakeholders in the fields of quality, accreditation, and conformity assessment.
The forum was held as part of the SAAC’s efforts to highlight the role of accreditation and raise awareness of its importance and impact in supporting the quality infrastructure, enhancing the competence of conformity assessment bodies, and contributing to improving the quality of products and services provided to beneficiaries locally and internationally.
The forum was inaugurated by His Excellency the CEO of the Saudi Accreditation Center, Dr. Adel Alkeaid, who delivered a speech addressing the role of accreditation in supporting the Kingdom’s quality infrastructure. He emphasized its contribution to enabling conformity assessment bodies to perform their activities in accordance with international requirements, thereby enhancing the quality of products and services and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
His Excellency thanked the participating entities, commending the integration of their roles with SAAC in developing and enhancing the efficiency of the conformity assessment sector. He affirmed that such integration represents a key pillar in strengthening the impact of accreditation across vital sectors and in embedding the concepts of innovation, trust, and sustainability within the quality ecosystem.
The forum featured a number of presentations delivered by government entities concerned with the quality ecosystem, including the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization; the Saudi Building Code National Committee; the National Measurement and Calibration Center; and the National Committee for Conformity Assessment Bodies at the Federation of Saudi Chambers. The presentations addressed the role of Saudi accreditation in supporting the Kingdom’s quality infrastructure, inspection under the Saudi Building Code, the role of measurement and calibration in enabling conformity assessment bodies, the impact of accreditation on developing the conformity assessment sector, and the importance of regulating heavy equipment.
At the conclusion of the forum, His Excellency the CEO honored the participating entities in recognition of their contributions to the success of the forum and to enriching the participants’ experience.
The CEO of SAAC Congratulates the Wise Leadership on the Success of Hajj 1447H
His Excellency the CEO of the Saudi Accreditation Center, Dr. Adel Alkeaid, extended his highest congratulations and blessings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—may Allah protect them—on the outstanding success of the Hajj season for the year 1447H–2026. This success reflected the honorable image of the exceptional care given by the wise leadership to serving the Guests of Allah.
His Excellency affirmed that the integration of services, smooth movement, and enhanced levels of safety and quality achieved during the Hajj season reflect the magnitude of the great efforts dedicated by the Kingdom to serving pilgrims. These efforts are delivered through an integrated system operating efficiently around the clock, built on accumulated expertise and an ambitious vision that has made the Kingdom a global model in crowd management and human-centered service.
Dr. Alkeaid explained that the continuous successes achieved by the Kingdom during each Hajj season are no longer limited to the organizational aspect alone. Rather, they represent an integrated national success story that embodies the values of excellence, institutional work, and integration among various government, service, security, and health entities, positively reflecting on pilgrims’ comfort and enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and reassurance.
He noted that the quality infrastructure ecosystem is one of the key enablers for improving service efficiency and enhancing their reliability. He emphasized that the Saudi Accreditation Center continues to play its role in supporting service quality by strengthening the competence of conformity assessment bodies, thereby contributing to reinforcing the concepts of quality, safety, and reliability across various vital sectors.
At the conclusion of his statement, His Excellency prayed to Allah Almighty to protect the Kingdom and its leadership, to perpetuate its security and prosperity, to reward the wise leadership for its great efforts in serving Islam and Muslims, and to accept the pilgrims’ Hajj and acts of worship, and to bring this blessed occasion back to all with goodness, prosperity, and blessings.
SAAC Participates in World Metrology Day Forum 2026
The Saudi Accreditation Center participated in the World Metrology Day Forum 2026, held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and organized by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, under the theme: “Measurements: Building Confidence in Policymaking.” The forum brought together a number of entities concerned with the metrology, calibration, and quality ecosystem.
SAAC’s participation included an introductory booth that showcased to forum visitors the role of Saudi accreditation in supporting the metrology and calibration ecosystem, enhancing the competence of conformity assessment bodies, and improving the quality of outputs in accordance with recognized international standards.
In addition, Eng. Saleh Al-Zahrani, General Manager of Inspection Bodies Accreditation at SAAC, delivered a presentation entitled: “The Role of the Saudi Accreditation Center in Supporting the Activities of the Taqyees Program.” The presentation highlighted the role of accreditation in supporting the metrology and calibration ecosystem and enhancing the competence of conformity assessment bodies, thereby contributing to improving the quality of outputs and services provided to beneficiaries.
At the conclusion of SAAc's participation, His Excellency the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization honored the CEO of SAAC in recognition of the efforts and contribution to the success of the forum, as well as its role in strengthening partnerships with relevant entities within the metrology and calibration ecosystem.

The CEO of Saudi Accreditation Center, Dr. Adel Alkeaid, received Mrs. Sachiyo Gunji, Economic Secretary for Food and Healthcare Affairs at the Embassy of Japan, at Saudi Accreditation’s headquarters.

This participation is of particular importance given the role of the Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated as a global platform for harmonizing accreditation practices and strengthening mutual confidence in the results of conformity assessment bodies. This contributes to facilitating trade and enhancing the international acceptance of certificates and reports issued by accredited bodies.
SAAC’s participation in these meetings reflects its active presence within the international accreditation system and its commitment to strengthening cooperation with peer organizations and accreditation bodies. The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has announced the launch of its accreditation service for Halal certification bodies, in accordance with the requirements of the standard (OIC/SMIIC 2:2019). The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the General Authority for Defense Development (GADD) on the sidelines of the World Defense Show in Riyadh. The Launch of "Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated" Unifies International Accreditation and Enhances Global Trust
A new unified international accreditation organization has been established under the name "Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated," bringing together the activities of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) under one umbrella. The organization commenced its operations on January 1, 2026, including oversight of Multilateral Recognition Arrangements (MRA).
Why is this important? Governments, regulators, industry, and consumers work to ensure that accredited conformity assessment results and certificates are reliable and accepted across borders, achieving the goal of "Building Global Trust for a Better World." By merging ILAC and IAF into a single organization, the global accreditation system—which supports trade, safety, and consumer confidence—will become less complex, more efficient, and more effective in establishing trust. The new organization will also help reduce duplication of efforts, align accreditation policies and procedures, and ensure more consistent application of standards across sectors and borders.
What will change?
One Organization, One Unified Governance Framework: While the governance and structure of IAF and ILAC evolve through the establishment of the new organization, the same scopes of accreditation and membership categories for accreditation bodies will be maintained. The new organization will provide a more unified framework without changing the documented relationships or recognition agreements relied upon by regulators, industry, consumers, and the conformity assessment ecosystem.
One Global Cooperation, One International Recognition Arrangement (MRA): The Global Accreditation Cooperation International MRA will cover the scopes previously recognized under the ILAC MRA and the IAF MLA, providing a single, clearer path for international mutual recognition of accredited conformity assessment results.

The Kingdom Concludes the 13th Session of the General Assembly of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation in Mecca
The 13th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) concluded today in Mecca, with participation from Arab accreditation bodies. Members discussed several topics related to enhancing the accreditation system and developing the quality infrastructure in Arab countries.
Participants reviewed technical reports and activities implemented during the year, in addition to following up on capacity-building programs and projects to develop technical practices for accreditation bodies. The General Assembly also discussed the upcoming strategic plan for the cooperation, which enhances paths for mutual recognition among Arab bodies and expands the scope of regional cooperation to support standards harmonization and improve the efficiency of accreditation services.

Over 20,000 Management Systems Certificates in the Kingdom
The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) published on its website the latest statistics on the number of management systems certificates issued worldwide. The total in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 2024 exceeded 20,000 certificates covering various fields.
Among the most prominent fields are quality management (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001), information security (ISO/IEC 27001), energy (ISO 50001), food safety (ISO 22000), medical devices (ISO 13485), and business continuity (ISO 22301). The Forum is the international body organizing the certification sector and overseeing multilateral recognition agreements.
The Central Laboratory in Madinah receives accreditation in the field of medical laboratories.
On the sidelines of the Global Health Exhibition 2025, the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid presented the accreditation certificate to the Central Laboratory at the Unified Testing Center, affiliated with the Madinah Health Cluster, in accordance with the international standard ISO 15189.

The Saudi Accreditation Center participated in the annual general meetings of both the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), held in Bangkok, Thailand, with broad participation from representatives of international accreditation bodies. The Center's delegation was headed by the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid, accompanied by several of the Center's leaders. During the meetings, the delegation discussed ways to enhance international cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of accreditation and quality management systems.

On Wednesday, 03 September 2025, the fourth meeting of the Executive Committee of the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB) was held virtually, chaired by the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid.

The Saudi Accreditation Center participates in the International Conference and Exhibition for Facilities Management 2025
The Saudi Accreditation Center participated in the 2025 International Facilities Management Conference and Exhibition, held from August 24-26, 2025, in Riyadh, with the participation of several relevant national and international organizations.
The Center's booth witnessed a significant turnout of visitors and those interested in learning about its services and its role in supporting the Kingdom's quality infrastructure, which contributes to enhancing competitiveness and increasing the reliability of national products and services in local and global markets.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Rabih from the Center also participated in a panel discussion entitled: “Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Improving the Efficiency of Public Facilities,” where he reviewed the most prominent potential applications of artificial intelligence in developing facility efficiency and the role of accreditation in supporting this trend.
The Center's participation in this event reflects its commitment to strengthening communication with partners and stakeholders and highlighting its leading role in consolidating the Kingdom's position in the quality and accreditation system at both the regional and international levels.
The Saudi Accreditation Center is the only national body authorized to grant accreditation to conformity assessment bodies in multiple fields, to be a fundamental and important pillar of the quality infrastructure system, and to contribute to improving the services of entities, and to raise the level of quality and adequacy of services and products, in order to preserve consumer health and environmental safety and to support the national economy and its prosperity.
The Saudi Accreditation Center achieves further international recognition and confirms its leadership in the fields of accreditation and quality for products, processes, and services.
In a new national achievement, the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has received international recognition from the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) in the field of accrediting bodies that certify products, processes, and services according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17065, as well as accrediting bodies that certify quality management systems – information security management systems according to ISO 27001. The number of accreditation areas recognized by the IAF for SAAC has reached eight.
In this context, the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid indicated that the international recognition obtained by the center is a significant national achievement in supporting and strengthening the quality infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It helps build trust between producers, consumers, and other stakeholders, contributes to supporting the economy, and facilitates international trade through mutual recognition in the fields of accreditation and conformity assessment.
SAAC is the only national body authorized to grant accreditation to conformity assessment bodies in multiple fields. To be a fundamental and important pillar of the quality infrastructure system, and to contribute to improving the services of entities, and to raise the level of quality and adequacy of services and products, in order to preserve consumer health and environmental safety and to support the national economy and its prosperity.

This year’s theme, "Accreditation: Empowering SMEs in Saudi Arabia," was marked in the presence of several Excellencies, representatives from the public and private sectors, and experts in the fields of quality and accreditation.
The event commenced with a keynote speech by the CEO Dr. Adel bin Abdulrahman bin Alkeaid, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the vital role of accreditation in empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), facilitating their market access, and enhancing their competitiveness and product quality.

Saudi Accreditation signs a joint cooperation agreement with a halal products development company
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) signed a joint cooperation agreement today with the Halal Products Development Company at SAAC's headquarters in Riyadh. The agreement, signed by the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid and Halal Products Development Company CEO Mr. Fahad Al-Nahait, aims to enhance collaboration between the two entities to achieve integration, unify efforts, and exchange expertise in quality and accreditation, thereby strengthening the Kingdom's leading role in the global halal sector.
Areas of cooperation under this agreement include utilizing SAAC-accredited laboratories, inspection bodies, and certification bodies for the company's projects; collaborating on training; coordinating the harmonization of local and international halal regulations; exchanging technical data within the framework of confidentiality; and participating in relevant events and workshops.

Saudi Accreditation grants two accreditation certificates to the Biobank at KIMARK and the Eye Bank at the Ministry of National Guard
His Excellency the Chief Executive Officer of Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, received the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid and his accompanying delegation. The Saudi Accreditation Center launches a service for accrediting biobanks according to the international standard "ISO 20387"
The Saudi Center for Accreditation (SCAA) has launched a biobank accreditation service in accordance with the international standard ISO 20387, a global benchmark for technical and administrative competence. This accreditation distinguishes accredited biobanks both locally and internationally, enhancing beneficiaries' confidence in the quality of services provided.
This accreditation represents a significant leap forward in improving the efficiency of biobank activities and grants them a competitive edge both domestically and internationally. It focuses on ensuring the safety of sample collection and preservation processes, verifying biosecurity, and verifying compliance with ethical and legal standards, as well as the competence of human resources.
Biobank accreditation contributes to supporting scientific research, developing medical diagnostics, producing medicines and vaccines, studying epidemics, improving agricultural crops, and preserving biodiversity. This effectively assists researchers in enhancing their understanding of diseases and developing innovative solutions to combat them.
This step comes within the framework of SCAA's efforts to support the quality infrastructure in the Kingdom and foster innovation in the health and scientific sectors. SCAA is among the first accreditation bodies worldwide to offer this service. Since its launch, two biobanks in the Kingdom have received this accreditation, representing a promising growth opportunity in this field. The Saudi Accreditation Authority grants accreditation to the National Center for Environmental Compliance.
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid presented the National Center for Environmental Compliance with the accreditation certificate in the field of inspection, after it fulfilled the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17020.

The Saudi Accreditation Center signed a cooperation agreement with King Faisal University on the sidelines of the Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) held in Riyadh. Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated is registered in New Zealand
The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) have announced that the 'Global Accreditation Cooperation' was officially registered as a legal entity in New Zealand on December 6, 2024. This merger represents a pivotal leap toward establishing a single international organization for accreditation, unifying the work of the International Accreditation Forum and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation.

Dr. Adel bin Abdulrahman Alkeaid, the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Accreditation Center and Chair of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC), chaired the semi-annual meeting of the cooperation executive committee in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In a new national achievement, the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has obtained international recognition from the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) in the field of quality management system certifications for the following areas: Food Safety Management System ISO 22000 (FSMS), Environmental Management System ISO 14001 (EMS), Medical Devices Management System ISO 13485 (MDMS), Energy Management System ISO 50001 (EnMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Management System ISO 45001 (OH&SMS).
This serves as an international recognition for all conformity certificates issued by bodies accredited by SAAC in these fields.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid visited the Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM) in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. He met with the Senior Director of Standardisation, Mr. Hussalmizzar Hussain, and the Director of Accreditation, Mr. Wan Rukiman Wan Mamat. During the visit, the Malaysian experiences in the fields of standards, quality, and accreditation were reviewed.
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC)... A Journey Rich with Achievements
reaches more than 500 Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) inside and outside the Kingdom from both the government and private sectors. This milestone spans from the commencement of its operations in 2020 until the end of the first quarter of 2024. The Center has provided its accreditation services to testing, calibration, and medical laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, and halal certification bodies, in accordance with the international standards specific to each service.
The number of fields in which the Center provides its accreditation services has reached 18, covering all activities of the conformity assessment sector in the Kingdom. This stems from its mission focused on providing innovative and reliable accreditation services, in partnership with entities in the quality ecosystem locally and internationally, aiming to elevate the competitiveness of the national economy, enhance foreign trade, and achieve Saudi Vision 2030 under the support of the wise leadership.
Furthermore, SAAC has achieved national milestones by obtaining international recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). This includes the field of testing laboratories accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025, the field of calibration laboratories accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025, and the field of inspection bodies accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17020 in the year 2021.
In 2023, SAAC obtained international recognition for the field of medical laboratories accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO 15189, and from the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) in the field of management systems certification bodies accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 in 2024. This serves as international recognition for all conformity certificates issued by bodies accredited by SAAC, which will contribute to elevating the Kingdom’s ranking in the Global Quality Infrastructure Index regarding the accreditation pillar, and providing economic support by increasing intra-regional trade and the smooth flow of goods to and from the Kingdom and global markets.

Saudi accreditation receives international recognition from the International Accreditation Forum and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has achieved a national milestone by obtaining international recognition from the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) through the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) in the field of management systems, according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, and international recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in the field of medical laboratories, according to the international standard ISO 15189:2022.
This constitutes international recognition for all conformity certificates issued by bodies accredited by SAAC, which will contribute significantly to the economic impact by boosting intra-regional trade and facilitating the flow of goods to and from global markets.
It is worth noting that this international recognition of SAAC is a significant achievement that supports the quality infrastructure in the Kingdom and strengthens SAAC's position regionally and internationally.
Saudi Accreditation concludes hosting the eleventh General Assembly of the Arab Accreditation Body
The 11th General Assembly of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) concluded today, with the participation of 21 Arab accreditation bodies and authorities. The assembly, hosted by the Saudi Accreditation Center, took place from December 5th to 14th in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. On the sidelines of the meetings, programs and workshops were held targeting stakeholders in the fields of quality and accreditation.
During the General Assembly, elections were held, resulting in the unanimous election of the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid as President of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) for the upcoming term. The Assembly also announced the renewal and expansion of the Center's international recognition by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
During the General Assembly proceedings, a workshop for stakeholders was held entitled “The Role of Accreditation in Developing the Infrastructure for Conformity Assessment Activity in the Kingdom,” with the attendance and participation of representatives of accreditation and quality fields from the public and private sectors. It addressed several key themes, most notably: the role of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation, regional cooperation, the Kingdom’s pioneering role in this context, and the benefits of the ARAC MLA Multilateral Recognition Agreement and its contributions to facilitating intra-regional trade.
The Kingdom wins the presidency of the Arab Accreditation Body "ARAC"
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the CEO of the Saudi Accreditation Center, won the unanimous vote of member states to assume the presidency of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) during the 11th General Assembly of the body held in Riyadh today.
The CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid will head the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) for its upcoming term. This national achievement underscores the prominent position of the Kingdom's quality infrastructure, made possible by the unwavering support of its wise leadership.
Dr. Adel Alkeaid expressed his gratitude to Amina Mohammed for her leadership of the current term and her efforts in guiding the organization, and thanked all member states for their confidence in him to lead the cooperation in the coming period. It is worth mentioning that the Arab Accreditation Cooperation was established in 2008 by a decision of the Ministerial Council of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDMO). It includes under its umbrella 21 national accreditation bodies and agencies, and represents the comprehensive umbrella for international mutual recognition in the Arab countries. It aims to plan and coordinate the accreditation activity of conformity assessment bodies in the Arab countries, which in turn will contribute to facilitating intra-Arab trade among themselves as well as with other countries.

Saudi Accreditation participates in the first meeting of the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies
The Saudi Accreditation Center participated in the first General Assembly meeting of the Islamic Halal Accreditation Forum (IFHAB), an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was held on Wednesday, November 1st, in Makkah.
The CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid emphasized the importance of the forum, which will contribute to establishing a comprehensive framework for mutual recognition among national accreditation bodies in OIC member states in the field of halal. This will enhance the reliability of halal certificates and their compliance with Sharia and technical standards, facilitating trade among member states and supporting the global halal industry.
Dr. Adel Alkeaid also commended the Kingdom for hosting the headquarters of the Islamic Halal Accreditation Forum, which reflects the Kingdom's pivotal role in supporting cooperation among Islamic countries.
The first activities of the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies "IFHAB" have commenced.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), the General Assembly of the Islamic Halal Accreditation Forum (IFHAB) commenced today in Makkah, on 17 Rabi' al-Thani 1445 AH, corresponding to November 1, 2023. The forum, an initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is hosted and funded by the Kingdom. Representatives from 24 national accreditation bodies from OIC member states are in attendance.
The inaugural General Assembly session featured a speech by Mr. Ihsan Uft, Secretary General of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), and a welcoming address by His Excellency Dr. Al-Qasabi, who greeted the representatives of the accreditation bodies from member states to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the host of the forum's first meeting, emphasizing its leading role in this field.
The meeting was chaired by Engineer Saud bin Rashid Al-Askar, Chairman of the Forum's Establishment Supervisory Committee, with the participation of Engineer Bader bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulatif, representing the Forum's Secretariat. The General Assembly discussed several items on the agenda, appointed members of the Executive Committee, and approved the Forum's provisional bylaws.
It is worth mentioning that this meeting is the first of the forum’s activities, as it aims to promote mutual understanding and achieve mutual recognition between accreditation bodies in the field of halal in Islamic countries, and to build bridges of effective communication to support the halal industry at various levels.
Saudi Accreditation and the Ministry of Health sign a cooperation agreement to enhance the quality of health services.
The Saudi Accreditation Center signed a cooperation agreement with the Supply and Engineering Affairs Agency at the Ministry of Health, aiming to enhance collaboration and unify efforts in accreditation, inspection, and training. The signing took place on the sidelines of the Global Health Forum held in Riyadh from October 29 to 31, 2023. Representing the Saudi Accreditation Center at the signing was Mr. Hassan bin Saleh Al-Wuhaibi, Deputy Executive Director of Operations, while the Ministry of Health was represented by Eng. Saad bin Omar Al-Sudhan, Undersecretary for Supply and Engineering Affairs.
The agreement includes the Saudi Accreditation Center providing the Ministry of Health with accreditation services for its medical laboratories according to the international standard ISO 15189, which contributes to improving the accuracy and quality of medical tests and analyses. It also includes accreditation services for testing and calibration laboratories according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025, which contributes to achieving accuracy in measurements and technical reports. Furthermore, the center will provide accreditation services for the Ministry's inspection activities according to the international standard ISO/IEC 17020, ensuring thorough inspection of healthcare facilities and verifying their compliance with international standards.
The agreement also includes the qualification and training of technicians within the Ministry of Health to conduct evaluation and accreditation processes, as well as the exchange of expertise and participation in technical advisory committees.
This agreement comes within the framework of the Saudi Accreditation Center's efforts to enhance cooperation with relevant entities to achieve integration, unify efforts, and exchange expertise, ultimately leading to the provision of reliable and highly efficient accreditation services.
Saudi Accreditation holds "Inspection Meeting" in Riyadh
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) held its "Inspection Meeting" in Riyadh on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. SAAC met with conformity assessment bodies operating in the inspection field to enhance communication with accredited and accreditation-seeking bodies, expand the network of accredited entities, and highlight the challenges they may face during the accreditation process.
The meeting began with a review of SAAC's services and the achievements of its Inspection Department. This was followed by three dialogue sessions: the first, titled "Challenges During the Accreditation Journey and Improvement Proposals"; the second, "Challenges in the Field"; and the third, a discussion of relevant technical regulations. The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) and the National Center for Environmental Compliance signed a memorandum of cooperation on Thursday, September 14, 2023. The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) announced a package of training programs in the fields of laboratory accreditation, inspection bodies, and certification bodies, to be offered during the third and fourth quarters of 2023. SAAC aims to equip assessors, experts, and specialists with the specialized knowledge, skills, techniques, and tools necessary to comply with the requirements of international standards in each area of accreditation.
The SAAC training programs cover a range of international standards, including those related to risk management (ISO 31000:2018), inspection bodies (ISO/IEC 17020:2012), testing and calibration laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025:2017), and medical laboratories (ISO/IEC 15189:2022). Additionally, there is a specialized program explaining the general methodology for assessing measurement uncertainty in testing and calibration laboratories, and another explaining the principles and applications of auditing guidelines for management systems according to the international standard ISO 19011:2018.

The Saudi Accreditation Center is participating in the Saudi Exhibition for Smart Logistics Services, which is being held within the activities of the Riyadh International Industry Week in its eighteenth session, from the 12th to the 15th of June 2023 AD, which is sponsored by His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef. The participation of Saudi accreditation in the exhibition comes to define its role in strengthening the quality infrastructure in the Kingdom, and to review its strategy and services provided to conformity assessment bodies, based on innovation, reliability and impartiality. This event is the largest gathering of the industrial sector in the Middle East with the participation of more than 500 local and international bodies. It includes decision makers and a group of local and international specialists and experts, to review the latest global trends in the industrial sector and supply chains.
The Saudi Accreditation Center celebrates the International Day for Accreditation
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) celebrated World Accreditation Day, which falls on June 9 of each year, by organizing a forum under the theme "Accreditation: Supporting the Future of Global Trade." The event was held in the presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, along with several officials, experts, and stakeholders in the fields of accreditation and quality, with active participation from government and private entities.
The forum activities were initiated by the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid with a speech in which he highlighted the importance of accreditation and its role in promoting international trade by raising product quality and establishing reliable local and global supply chains.
During the forum, two panel sessions were held: the first titled "The Quality of Saudi Industry... Ensuring Access to Global Markets" and the second titled "The Role of Quality in Supporting Global Supply Chains," featuring speakers from government agencies and private companies.
SAAC is keen to celebrate World Accreditation Day in conjunction with the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), as well as international accreditation bodies worldwide. This commitment stems from its strategic objectives aimed at positioning Saudi Arabia's accreditation system among the top ten countries globally by 2030.
The Saudi Accreditation Center participates in the Future Projects Forum2023
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) participated in the 5th Future Projects Forum, organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, Majid Al-Hogail. The forum was held from May 22–23, 2023, in Riyadh, with the attendance of 41 government and private entities.
The Center’s participation aimed to introduce the services provided to Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and highlight its contributions to strengthening the Quality Infrastructure, supporting the Kingdom’s goal to rank among the top ten countries globally in the quality system. Visitors to the Center’s pavilion were briefed on the advantages of accreditation and the services offered to both the public and private sectors. The exhibition also provided a platform for visitors to engage directly with specialists in various accreditation fields.
It is worth noting that SAAC is dedicated to fulfilling its mission of providing innovative and reliable accreditation services through strategic partnerships within the local and international quality ecosystems, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and boosting foreign trade.
The Saudi Accreditation Center is a conditional workshop with the Ministry of Defense
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, held a workshop in Riyadh, in the presence of the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid.
The CEO delivered a speech introducing the center and its services, reviewing the importance and advantages of accreditation and its role in the quality infrastructure. During the workshop, accreditation services were introduced in accordance with international ISO standards, specifically in the areas of accreditation for testing, calibration, and measurement laboratories, accreditation of inspection bodies, and accreditation of certification bodies.
It is worth noting that SAAC regularly holds introductory meetings and workshops with various governmental and private agencies to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation, in order to strengthen the quality infrastructure and support the Kingdom's economy and prosperity.
SAAC Welcomes MOH Officials to Mark Accreditation of Forensic Poisons Center
The CEO Dr. Adel Abdulrahman Alkeaid welcomed Dr. Maram Al-Otaiby, CEO of the Support Health Services Center at the Ministry of Health, and the accompanying delegation, to SAAC’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The visit came on the occasion of a major milestone for the Forensic Poisons Center in Riyadh, which had just obtained accreditation in the field of toxicology and forensics in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025. This made it the first laboratory of the Ministry of Health to obtain accreditation from SAAC.
The Department of Forensic Toxicology Services in Riyadh obtains accreditation from “SAAC”
The Forensic Toxicology Services Department at the Riyadh Forensic Medical Services Center has achieved a significant milestone for the Ministry of Health, having received accreditation from the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC). This accreditation recognizes the department's successful implementation of the accreditation standards set by the Central Board and its successful completion of the evaluation process, in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025. The department is the first healthcare facility within the Ministry to achieve this distinction.
This accreditation reflects the department's strategy of rigorously adhering to the highest standards of quality management and development, and its commitment to ensuring the efficiency of its testing and calibration laboratories for forensic toxicology examinations. Saudi accreditation and the General Administration of Laboratories at the Agency for Agriculture hold a workshop to introduce accreditation services
The Saudi Accreditation Center, in cooperation with the General Department of Laboratories at the Agency for Agriculture in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, held a workshop entitled (Laboratory Accreditation Services and Inspection Bodies), at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh.
The workshop started with an opening speech, followed by an introduction to the Saudi Accreditation Center, a presentation of the laboratory accreditation service, the accreditation of inspection bodies and the mechanisms for applying for these services.The cooperation of the Saudi Accreditation Center with the General Administration of Laboratories at the Agency for Agriculture comes as it is the only national authority authorized to grant accreditation to conformity assessment bodies and out of its keenness to cooperate with the competent authorities to support its important role in raising the level and quality of services and products and their adequacy and increasing consumer confidence in them.

"Communications, Space and Technology" obtains Saudi accreditation in the field of inspection
The CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid received a delegation from the Communications and Space Technology Commission (CST) on the occasion of the Commission's accreditation in the field of inspecting telecommunications and information technology service providers, in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17020.

The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Hail Region Development Authority, with the aim of enhancing work between the two sides in many fields. SAAC Grants First Medical Laboratory Accreditations to PMBAH and Saudi Ajal
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has granted an accreditation certificate to the laboratory of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Madinah, affiliated with the Ministry of National Guard, in the field of medical laboratories in accordance with the international standard ISO 15189. This marks the first accreditation for medical laboratories in the government sector, while Saudi Ajal Laboratory obtained the first accreditation certificate for medical laboratories in the private sector. The accreditation was awarded following a rigorous verification of technical and administrative competence, quality control procedures, sampling practices, and the suitability of the testing environments.

The first day's schedule commenced with Mr. Mohammed Al-Rabeh, who introduced the role of accreditation in enhancing quality infrastructure and detailed the evaluation process for assessors and experts. Subsequently, Ms. Haneen Alghamdi continued the session by explaining SAAC’s internal policies. The first day of the program was concluded by Eng. Ayman Makki, who delivered a presentation on the policies of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC).
The Saudi Accreditation Center Holds Its Sixth Board Meeting
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) held its Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday morning, corresponding to 30 Muharram 1443H. The meeting was chaired on behalf of H.E. Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors. During the meeting, H.E. and the Board members reviewed the Center’s progress and its key achievements over the past period.
The Board reviewed a number of the Center’s achievements and objectives during 2021, which represents a qualitative leap in the Center’s journey after successfully completing its foundational stage.
Saudi Accreditation Center Celebrates Obtaining International Recognition
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) held a ceremony at its headquarters on Tuesday morning, corresponding to 30 Muharram 1443H, to highlight its journey in obtaining international recognition and to appreciate the efforts made to achieve this important national milestone; the Center had previously obtained international recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) on 2 Muharram 1443H, in the fields of accreditation of testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, and inspection bodies, an achievement that comes as a culmination of the Center’s efforts across five main stages, including a peer evaluation process conducted by a team of international assessors, which lasted for one year in accordance with the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17011 standard, to ensure the Center’s competence and readiness.

The Board of Directors of the Saudi Accreditation Center held its fifth meeting remotely on Wednesday, 9/9/1442H corresponding to 21/4/2021, chaired by H.E. The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) signed a cooperation memorandum aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining public health and safety, based on Saudi Vision 2030 in enhancing joint work between government entities.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority was represented by H.E. Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, while the Saudi Accreditation Center was represented by the CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid.
The CEO Dr. Adel Alkeaid affirmed that the Center aims to protect consumers, raise the level of quality of services and products, and work on the competence of conformity assessment bodies. Saudi Accreditation Center Achieves National Milestone by Obtaining International Recognition
The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) has achieved a national milestone by obtaining international recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) through the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC), in the fields of accreditation for testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, and inspection bodies.
This recognition supports the Kingdom’s signing of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements that require international recognition of national quality infrastructure services. It means that conformity certificates issued by conformity assessment bodies accredited by SAAC are now internationally recognized, which will have a significant economic impact by enhancing trade exchange and facilitating the flow of goods and products to and from global markets.

The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAAC) and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) signed a joint cooperation memorandum to enhance collaboration between the two entities and reinforce the principle of integration and optimal use of resources. This will enable both parties to achieve their strategic objectives in strengthening the quality infrastructure, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Dr. Alkeaid stated that the Center is working to expand avenues of cooperation with relevant government and private sector entities to achieve a distinguished level of integration and collaborative work, with the aim of enhancing the quality of services and products and maintaining public health and safety.
