The Saudi Accreditation Center granted the accreditation certificate to the laboratory of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Madinah of the Ministry of National Guard. The accreditation covers the activity of medical laboratories in accordance with the international standard ISO 15189. It is the first accreditation for medical laboratories operating in the government sector, and Saudi AJAL laboratory obtained the first accreditation certificate for medical laboratories in the private sector. The accreditation of the two laboratories came after evaluation of the technical and administrative competences of the staff, the availability of adequate quality control and assurance procedures, the existence of appropriate practices in sampling and preservation, and the availability of appropriate equipment and environment for the tests.
