Following the decision (600) of the Council of Ministers, dated June 25th, 2019, the National Accreditation Committee (2004) was turned into an independent center both financially and administratively under the name "Saudi Accreditation Center", which is linked directly to the Minister of Commerce.
The Center is the official national entity authorized to provide accreditation services for conformity assessment bodies in Saudi Arabia as well as enhancing their efficiency. This is to improve the quality infrastructure in the kingdom and to support its economy.
The Saudi Accreditation Center is assigned certain tasks through its regulations such as: accrediting conformity assessment bodies, providing training and qualification services for assessors in the conformity assessment field, taking part in international and regional organizations, exchanging accreditation certificate acknowledgements with other conformity assessment bodies, representing the kingdom regionally and internationally, coordinating with government parties to provide data related to the conformity assessment field while proposing related regulations, conducting studies and research papers, organizing seminars and conferences, in addition to creating a database of the Center's activities.
