In a significant milestone reflecting the advancement of the Kingdom’s quality infrastructure, the number of conformity assessment bodies accredited by the Saudi Accreditation Center has reached 1,000, across the fields of laboratories, inspection, and certification. This milestone strengthens the capabilities of the national accreditation system and reflects its growing role in serving various sectors and enhancing the quality of products and services.
This achievement marks an important milestone in the Center’s journey, during which it has focused on building a trusted national accreditation system in accordance with international standards and best practices, while enabling conformity assessment bodies to provide services with greater competence and reliability. This contributes to enhancing the quality of products and services and supporting the competitiveness of the national economy, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Adel Alkeaid, CEO of the Saudi Accreditation Center, stated that reaching 1,000 accredited conformity assessment bodies represents an important milestone in the Center’s journey. He emphasized that the true value of this achievement lies not in the number itself, but in the impact these bodies create across various sectors, as well as in the technical capabilities and specialized expertise that have become part of the national quality infrastructure.
He added that this achievement would not have been possible without the support provided to the quality infrastructure ecosystem by the Kingdom’s leadership and the integrated efforts of partners across the public and private sectors. He also noted that the Center continues to develop the accreditation system and expand the scope of its services in line with the needs of the national economy.
This expansion also strengthens the Kingdom’s presence within the international accreditation framework, benefiting from the international recognition achieved by the Center. Such recognition supports the international acceptance of results issued by accredited conformity assessment bodies, facilitates trade, and enhances the competitiveness of national products.
Since its establishment in 2019 as the national body responsible for accrediting conformity assessment bodies in the Kingdom, the Saudi Accreditation Center has continued to build and develop an integrated national accreditation system, develop national capabilities and competencies, and strengthen local and international partnerships, reinforcing accreditation as one of the key pillars of quality infrastructure.
